Designing and implementing new data-driven business models e.g. based on an API platform is a major challenge in a clients’ digitalization journey. With the help and guidance of Ginkgo Management Consulting, our client set up a data monetization organization from scratch enabling the successful operation of this new data-driven business model. Ginkgo elaborated a concept, led the project, and accompanied the transition from project to line organization. This included the full operationalization of the data platform as well as the introduction of a managed data product portfolio with an efficient product lifecycle management. Ginkgo strongly supported the identification and handling of the needed interface between the various business functions and IT. "spaHRk" / "DATAVENTURE" Data Game
Working with data is at the core of digitization. However, our clients often observe a fear among the employees in working with data. So together with our clients Ginkgo Management Consulting thought about an innovative way of engaging teams in an interdisciplinary way and developed “spaHRk” / “DATAVENTURE”. It might sound odd, but the approach contains an analog card game that massively pushes the digital transformation and was played and liked by more than 10.000 participants at large automotive OEMs and logistics clients alike. The gamification approach attracts all departments and levels and proves that data innovation can be easy, quick, and accessible to everyone. To get to the result, Ginkgo was able to support the clients in an innovative way, truly understanding the topic and specific context and coming up with a result that impacted the organizations in a very beneficial and measurable way.
Operational Readiness of a Data-Driven Sales Organization
Ginkgo Management Consulting supported the client in ensuring the operational readiness of a data sales organization. To achieve this goal Ginkgo performed a gap analysis, defined and implemented new processes, and supported the selection of suitable tools for automated workflows. Additionally, a collaborative project management framework was introduced and allowed a more integrated work model of all relevant data sales stakeholders. Based on these measures together with the client, the operational readiness for customer onboarding-, compliance & legal-, billing & accounting- and support-processes was achieved successfully.
Data Business Initialization
Ginkgo Management Consulting supported a leading automotive OEM with the development of a new Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) business model based on vehicle-generated data. Ginkgo defined a holistic online platform concept for future data sales as well as conceptualizing the relevant marketing plan for internal and external communication. Ginkgo also supported the strategic product portfolio definition and helped with the data product initialization. As part of the clients, overall data sales strategy Ginkgo coordinated the implementation of the “neutral server concept” and by that launching the first data business platform of the client.
Data Governance & Data Clearing
A leading german Automotive OEM provides data via own and 3rd party marketplaces to B2B partners to allow great data use cases to be built for end consumers. Sharing data with external parties can involve significant business risks if not well controlled and thus implies a proper risk evaluation. In this context, Ginkgo Management Consulting supported the client to define a data clearing concept and implemented a data clearing office as part of the data governance organization. This global function acts on the basis of a dedicated operational model and business process blueprint in order to minimize the risk and maximize the business impact of data sharing.
